"Clay is ordinary and familiar, and infinitely variable. This is what inspires me to make."
The alchemy that constantly transforms Earth's materials fascinates me. I think of the techniques I use - of water erosion, carving and scraping, compression, slow drying and firing- as hand-worked versions of the geological processes that shape landscapes. That humans have been using these techniques and materials for tens of thousands of years is very significant to me. My hope for all my pieces is that people have an irresistible urge to reach out and touch them.
